Hola!

Ya ... so this kind of sucks because I don't have much time to write you all but this week was CRAZY I got no sleep hhahaha so last week we had a multi zone meeting with president and I got to see all my friends in Bosques! so that was cool and we went to temple today!!!! that was such a great experience I really needed a break after these last two weeks... we had four hermana leaders with us last weeks monday.. and we had two Hermanas with us this weeks monday to receive other two Hermana yesterday and her comp went home so were now in a trio... so its been pretty crazy.. something thats really crazy is they changed the rules we can drink coke, pepsi.. we can eat fish, shrimp, strawberries and everything now...but i'm used to not drinking and eating these things so unless someone like a member or a investigador gives it to me i'm not going to buy or drink it... so theres that... ummmm we got a new plan for the mission that is really awesome for the new year! and well I have a lot to tell you all but I had to send a few things to leaders so that took up sometimes so until next monday.. ill right you all more about what happened.. oh and we now have two souls that we are able to help and prepare for baptism.. love ya all until next week!

Pues

Okay so this past week was rather crazy.. on monday well we had our p-day we ate with the zone at a really good hamburger place and such and played basketball!!! yay! and on tuesday we had divisions with the hermana leaders and I stayed in my area with hermana Viarreal! who i found out is going home in my change.. and my comp hna. flores went to BOSQUES! with the other hermana leader hna. roll.. ya I really wanted to go because Bosques is my old area... but its inspired that I stayed in our area.. but I had alot of fun with the hermana leader... shes really pilas and we were able to accomplish a lot!

On wednesday well to start Pres. crapo and hna. Crapo went to our district reunion and then after President Crapo and Hermana Crapo took me and my comp out to eat.. ya I remember thinking were eating with Presidente and Hermana Crapo... so they took us out to eat and it was at a really expensive place in our area as well so I felt a little bad but its called san martin! and its really good! so we ate with them and then afterwards Hna. Crapo left with me and my comp to do some visits with some of our menos activos and investigadores... and it was a really awesome experience Hna. Crapo has a really good spirit about her and really brings the spirit.. she still can't speak spanish so i translated everything she wanted to say in the lessons and to the people we talked to which i have to admit i enjoyed alot it was alot of fun and I loved translating because I could feel the power of her words in both of the languages.. it was a really neat experience.. so she left with us and then President came and picked her up around 5 we took pics and then went back to work... but it was a lot of fun! And a great spiritual experience..

Another experience that was kind of cute was my comp and i were just walking in the street when out of no where a little girl probably about two ran in front of me and hugged both of my legs so that i wasn't able to move.. and then ran back to her mom.. it was SOOO CUTE! haha so i took advantage of the moment and contacted the mom she said that we could go and teach her at her house and that there were missionaries that were teaching her before.. so that was a really cool experiences as well.

On saturday there was a baptism of a 8 year old whose parents are members and well we can{t go if we don't have investigadores and they wanted me to play the piano so we were looking and inviting people like crazy.. and well we went to one of our investigadores to see if she was there and to see if she had her baby to find out she had it the day before friday... and she was home resting but we met her cousin or someone... and she invited us in and we talked to her and then I invited her to the baptism and she was like ya i'll go.. she she went with us and it was an awesome experience.. the only thing was, is my comp and I were standing in the back next to the Elders and then the Elders just start laughing a little during the baptism.. and I look at my investigador to find that she was taking pics of the girl being baptized and was adding different picture affects and colors to it.. I guess we forgot to mention the no photos or videos thing... but she didn't know and she was rather interested in it.. Eld Pernillo told em afterwards well just hope she doesn't put it on facebook.. so I responded ya I can only imagine that post #bautismo de los mormones.. baptism of the mormons.. ya....

So anyway.. everything ended up working out she said she wanted to go with us to church but ended up not being able to so were going to pass by this week to have another cita with her..

Also one last story so I have a white skirt and theres a member that has a goose and the goose thinks that my skirt is a swan so its always hitting on my skirt and I feel like this goose only likes me for my skirt.. so the member and my comp are always making fun of me saying well if all else fails you have a boyfriend in this goose when you return... hahaha but ya that thing chases me...

So this was basically my week last night we also had a lesson that the spirit was suppppppppeeerrrr strong to the point that me my comp and the wife of the man that we were teaching.. shes a member along with her kids but her husband isn't.. but the spirit was super strong but the mans heart was really hard to the point that the spirit even as strong as it was couldn't reach him... it was really sad and caused a lot of tears on our part to see how much the wife wants him to accept I feel sad for her but I respect her husbands choice and free agency.. so were going to give him some time and just visit them to strengthen there family and such.. but it wa a really spiritual experience...

So this was basically my week! Love ya all and hope your all doing well! your in my prayers! love ya! I think I get to go to the temple next week I'M SO EXCITED!!!!! until next week!

me in my area!

Monday, January 19, 2015

Where to start today i've prepared something a little spiritual for all.

So first id like to apologize for my lack of an email last week it was really crazy... but to catch up I have a new comp named han. flores she has 7 months and today I have 10 months... crazy huh... I hate it because now every time every one asks me how much time I have on the mission and i tell them 10 there all like oh ya se va.. like basically ya your already going home.. hahaha and I always respond that I have a lot more time left.. not wanting to except that my time here is shorting.. but i'm not going to think about that... I still have a lot more time left to serve and help people and im glad for the time I have left!
So anyway this week.. well this change has been a little stressful but i'm doing my best to be the example to my comp. we get along for the most part and have our little fights here and there ... but my comp is really sweet we just both have really strong personalities when it comes to mission things.. hehe but its all working out none the less and were both working really hard in our area..
Yesterday I gave my first talk in the mission.. it went rather well all the members really liked it. but the thing was the Bishop asked me in wednesday to give the talk and I told him i would so I wrote the first part and then in friday he told me next week I was going to give it so I was like great now I have more time to pray about the subjects and more time to listen to the spirit to guide me and such... to then receive a phone call saturday night saying that I needed to give it this sunday... so I wrote the rest that night good thing I already had my themes I wanted to talk about. The Bishop told me to talk about the work of the Lord. missionary work.. and so i had a lot of options.. I choose to talk about strengthening families, how to have your personal conversion so that you can help others with theirs.. and about the love of christ that he has for all his lost sheeps... so im going to translate it and send you guys a copy hopefully next week wills see if i have time.. if not the nexxt.. so it went rather well and it was actually a lot of fun..

So there was that.. on thursday my comp and I started talking to a lady to have her husband come in and basically yelling at us trying to make us think that were sinning preaching and that we need to repent and that basically were going to heck doing what were doing and that he has received a bunch of Book of mormon and hes just thrown them off the cliffs and we need to throw our book of mormons away and repent... and a bunch of other cruel things about the gospel..
and well it broke my heart to see how hard this mans heart was.. i admit afterwards i was very irritated because he was saying mean things to the church i love and respect but after praying for peace my comp and i were able to go back to work..feeling calm... but i still felt the sadness for this poor soul.. hes been so blinded by the truth that nothing that we could say or do could convince him otherwise..

I literally had felt like satan was in front of me... but in the end we did what was necessary we tried to share our testimonies to have him then just shout overtop of us so with respect we left him be.. leaving his wife a pamphlet to read..

but through it all theres going to be people that think were in the wrong.. theres going to be times when sharing the gospel is hard but we are in the truth.. and satan knowing that were in the truth will use what ever he can to try and convince us otherwise...
but it was in this moment that I realized that without a doubt just how strong my testimony is.. i've never really had it tested before.. and its through reading my scriptures.. praying with a true intention and taking my time.. and by going to church that I have gained this testimony...
I hope that one day this mans heart will soften that he might be able to hear of the truth... that we are in the correct and there is nothing anyone can tell me that will convince me otherwise... I love being a missionary.. its the best thing i can ever do and to be honest if I had a choice I would never stop being a missionary its sometimes the hardest but at the same time the most rewarding.. I challenge you all to work on your own conversion that you might in times of trial be able to stand strong and stick to what you believe.. I lovee you all so much and i love the people here in guatemala as well! I am truly grateful for this time i have to serve here and i'm going to live every moment helping others! but love you all and i wish you all the best in all you do! know that your all in my prayers! thanks for your letters, emails and support love ya all!
but that was basically my day.. pretty crazy here but were doing our best and working hard with smiles from the doctrine on our faces.. love u all keep your heads up and know that in all yours studies, work and everything the Lord is with you watching over you we just need to turn to Him.. that is what I learned... Ive overcome a lot of things on my mission that i didn't think i could do by leaning on him.. he is the rock that will never crack.. and we can lean on Him and anytime ! love y all! FELIZ DIA!

Well now where to start.

So we found out changes... my comp who only has one change left in the mission she has changes. I  don't i'm going to stay here in Acatan... but the pouch elders were mean to play a trick on us and gave us in friday a heads up on what our changes were to then send us a message later in the night to tell us that they were lying.. ya it was mean and we believed them because they work in the office.. so we know better not to do so next time... so anyway this week was insanely busy!!
On monday Herman Wilcoxen and her com came and stayed with us! it was sooo good to see my trainer again! especially since i haven't seen her in ages! so that was awesome to be able to see her again and get all caught up! In tuesday it was even crazier the financial elders came around 6 fifteen in the morning to give us money for a project.. then the taxi came for Hermana Wilconxen and her comp to take them back to there area.. but then we all ended up waiting for all three of the asistentes to come to our house to give us something before the Hermanas could leave and then afterwards the Bishop came and gave us our clean clothes... so ya it was a crazzyyy day!
so i don{t have to time to explain the project that our bishop has set up to help the members become more excited about missionary work but i'm really excited to get the project in action!
In friday we had two other hermanas come and stay with us and then one of the hermana who got her visa went off to her mission in mexico and so me and hna. Tuia have been in a trio for the last three days until tomorrow when were going to have changes... so its been a lot of fun! and i've become really good friends with the new hereman shes from peru and shes super sweet and fun! so its been crazy but I forgot to mention on the 31 we went to sleep and then woke up at 12 to see the fireworks it wasn't as exciting as christmas fireworks but we still got to see them... so we saw those then headed to bed..
On saturday the pouch elders showed up at 3 in the morning to pick up the hermana so we probably only got about 3 hours of sleep from helping the hermana and were going to receive a hermana fresh out of the mtc who is going to stay with us for the night for changes tomorrow... and then in tuesday my house is going to have ten other hermanas that are going home.. so it will be a long week for me but but ill do my best and even though i'm going to be low on sleep ill work hard and do my best! but this was my week! love ya all sorry got to go until next week!

Me Again!

I forgot to mention on christmas eve my comp and I at 12 in the morning went out and watched all the really loud fireworks there were soooo many and they were so loud but they were soo pretty and soo cool! I swear i don{t know where Guatemala gets the money but they probably send over trillions of dollars because there are always fireworks going off over here.. and were going to have more for new years.. but on christmas the set them off at 12 in the evening.. and then at six in the night for the birth of christ i think it was for... but it was really cool to see them and they were super cool. So after we watched all the fireworks christmas eve night... we went in and opened packages.. like at one in the morning christmas morning and then went to bed.. and this is the tradition here they all go and watch the fireworks and then they return home to find santa had come.. they then open there presents.. and then all sleep and do what ever they want...

A member was also nice enough to bring us a huge loaf of bread, two tamales and a bag of really good cookies on saturday night which was really sweet of them!

On saturday night my comp and i bought supplies and we prepared a meal to give to the elders for sunday after church because the lady that normally makes our meals won{t be able to so my comp and i made something for the four of us and they came to our house after church. to pick it up and then take it home.. speaking of which my comp and i bought presents for the elders.. hahah since there like our little brothers we decided to get them something hehe we bought them sling shots... well my comp and i thought they were cool to so we bought some as well so were all thinking of having a marshmallow fight.. not sure when because our p-days are different than theres since they work in the office... but we will probably figure out a day.. but ill let you all know hehe but yep im doing well! Working hard and sorry my photos won{t load so i won{t be able to send any but i had more time to tell you about my week! But hope all is well! love ya all! happy new years!

Feliz Nuevo Ano Pues, Casi..

Happy almost new year! and i hope you all had a great Christmas! So this week was rather crazy. Everyone was basically gone for the holidays and so for christmas eve my comp and i went contact mad! and we basically contacted everyone and there dog.. if there was a person we were contacting them and it was a lot of fun we got to give out four book of mormon and we were giving out pamphlets and he is the gift cards left and right to bless the lives of those we contact through the message these things bring! So it was a great day and we also were blessed with a lot of news as well so it all worked out really well!

On Christmas I got to call home and talk to everyone which was really nice to see and hear my family! And show them a little dance.. hehe so that was a lot of fun! And after my comp and i finished talking with our families we ate tamales which is the traditional christmas time food here with hot chocolate! But other than that we really didn't do anything else on christmas..
But other than that nothing new really happened.. i am excited though because soon i'm going to be able to see my trainer hermana wilcoxen who I haven't seen in forever she goes home with my comp that i have now in febuary 18th so its soon and all the hermanas that go home come and stay with us at my house because were the closest to the airport so i hope that i don't have changes so that ill be able to see her along with other missionaries that are going home! but who knows.. this is the last week before changes.. but i don't think me or my comp have changed.. but will see.. But i love you all this is all i got i'm going to try and take the rest of the time to send you all pics!
love ya all!

Somos bendicidos!

So I really don't know where to begin... on monday we had our reunion with president Crapo and three other zones and we ate yummy CCM food and we watched the IRON Will WHAT A GREAT MOVIE. its the one made by Disney.. and afterwards we talked about how it could apply to us and it was a great message... one thing i really like from Hna. Crapos message was we have been blessed with so much from our Father in heaven and he has blessed us with as well many spiritual gifts... and she went on to say what are we going to give Christ this christmas what are we going to give our Father in Heaven this christmas to thank them for all that we have... and she went on to say the work of serving loving and keeping his commandments is the way that we are able to give back to H.F
I had a great experience today my comp and i saw a member who is in a wheel chair slowly making it up a hill and having problems with doing so we went to cross the street when we saw a stranger slowly limping up behind him and then pushing him the best he could even though he was limping and couldn't walk well himself. this stranger took the time to go out of his way to help this man with all that he was able to do in his condition went and helped this member... it really touched me.
If there is something i learned is that its not about the presents but about helping and loving others like christ would.. So i hope you all have a great christmas love you all! so much got to go ill send pic and write more next week

Love you all

FELIZ NAVIDAD!

Christmas photos!

Christmas photos! santa clause!!!!! HAHAHA And this is all I have time to send ill send more next week love ya all!

Soooo

Well this week was rather interesting.. It started off awesome and on

Tuesday my comp and i had a really cool experience that i want to share with you all so we met a man that has a sick daughter she just had surgery for removing her appendix but shes been really sick and hasn't really healed so he talked to us about what are church does to help the sick and we explained about the authority and such and then he took us to meet his 13 year old daughter...

and some background info about this area.. its the poor area and we literally walk in a mountain trail to get to these houses that are built in the trees of the mountain.. its supppppererrr cool and his house is a little weird to get to because theirs a steep hill and then we climb up a little to then walk down really big stairs..

but anyway so we met his 13 year old little girl.. shes super sweet and had such a huge smile on her face despite the pain she was in.. so we talked to them and called the elders to put a cita with them for Wednesday so that we could come back with the Elders and have them give her a blessing...

So we did and on Wednesday we headed to there house to give the blessing... and well, on the last step down by there house of the big stairs I told you guys about... the last step.. i slipped and ended up rolling my ankle.. or something i'm still not sure what i did to it. so limping and holding back everything we went into there house and they gave the blessing and then awkwardly i limped all the way up the mountain trail with my comp in front of me and Elder Savage behind me I felt so bad.. I kind of just walked and they stood in front of me and behind me in case I needed help haha i half crawled up the mountain.. now that I think about it.. it was probably actually really funny to watch hahah and it was kind of embarrassing ill admit but it hurt to walk so we had to take it really slow and ya it was interesting.. so the elders had to leave because we had to be in the church at 6 for caroling we were going to go to different parts of our areas with members and sing... so they left and my comp and i walked all the way back by the time we got back near our house it had been about an hour and a half... because the area we were in was rather far.. so unfortunately I wasn't able to go caroling.. which i was a little bummed about but the next day i went out and worked.. haha it was a rather interesting week with my foot but ... im still working and now its basically healed. still a little swollen... So that was that..

On thursday we had interviews with president.. that went well and on sunday we had a singing devotional at the stake center that was a bunch of Christmas music! It was really pretty! Today monday we went and painted and cleaned a school for children that was a lot of fun I was put with the cleaning group and at one point we ended up having a epic rag fight.. it was a lot of fun afterwards the people that worked there surprised us with lunch! but it was a lot of fun and i'm happy that we were able to help them out..

I also forgot to mention on saturday we went back down to the house of the man whose daughters sick to see how shes was doing and she was doing really well she was able to walk a lot more she still can{t move a whole lot but she had progressed a lot... so we were able to give her the card I made and give her the stuff animal we bought and just talk to her but he and her family are really cool and i look forward to seeing the miracles of priesthood blessings. along with the importance and power of faith but yep that was basically my week!

Love ya all thanks!

El es la Dadiva

So how awesome was the youtube broadcast thing yesterday i wasn't able to get on facebook but me along with all the other missionaries have little cards were giving out and explaining about the new video El es la Dadiva.. which i'm assuming means He is the Gift in english. but anyway so im super happy and excited to be apart of this program and I have seen the word spread and its really awesome.. SO you should all be sure to see that video and to share it on facebook... speaking of which dad if you can find it in spanish and in english and share them both on my facebook thanks!

Also speaking about yesterday, yesterday was the day of the diablo devil.. here in guatemala so everyone had huge pinatas of devils and they would light them on fire and have fire works going off and it all started at 7 btu some luckily before 7 so my comp and i were able to see some adn take some pics before the christmas devotional started.. which how awesome was the devotional!!! i was able to watch it in english with all the gringies.. hehe the zone leaders were cool enough to set it up in english for us at the stake center... but something sad that happened after. is one for the new Elders Elder Astel said that they were sending him home monday.. so today in the morning.. so the newbie of three weeks in the field went home and it was really sad the people in our zones are like our families and so my comp were like almost in tears. haha one of teh elders was like he not dying hermanas... but in a way it kind of feels like that because were not sure if were not going to see them again.. but the one thing i love about the mission is that even if i don´t see any of theses people in this life we can party and see each other in the celestial kingdom. which is a great blessing! but anyway so that was a little sad but were okay now... so anyway

we had two earthquakes yesterday one at like 6 in the morning and the other in the afternoon so that was pretty cool...

This week I managed to make a lot of new friends out of the 18 people in my zone... and so its been a lot of fun today in p day we played basket which was a lot of fun! and then went to pizza hut... and here i am writing but I forgot to tell u al I think but my house is the ho use they use if an hermana has emergency changes.. or is going home or something like that so tonight at 7 thirty were going to have a hermana come and stay with us tonight and leave tomorrow we don't´really know the situation but it will be fun to be able to get to know her for the short time she will be staying with us... but my comp and I always say were the wanna be sister leaders because we always have hermanas coming and going and we have hermanas sometimes that come for a day and we do divisions with them... so that's going to be fun.

Also something a little weird but kind of cool is my comp and i made friends like best friends with this lady of testigo de jehova.. i think its like jehovah witnesses or something like that so everytime we see her we always talk and share our doctrine.. and shes supper cool and super nice... but shes from guatemala and she has strawberry hair and her name is cherry.. haha cheri...but ya so im doing well and i'm doing my best working hard and having a blast in my area... on friday for correlation us and the finacieros went and put up and decorated our missionary leader of the wards christmas tree and ate and watched the video of the church that was a lot of fun and it was great that we were able to talk about all our needs of our investigators but also real quick for all you taht are asking me for the address. everything needs to be sent to the following address because the address on the cards I passed out at my fair well is the address for the north and east so if you send it to that address its possible that they will send the thing you send me to the north mission and it will get lost.. so the mission address for my mission is

Hermana Flewallen
Mission Guatemala East Mission
Apartado Postal 951-A
Guatemala Guatemala C.A

gracias for all your support and love got to go until next week! Love ya all!

tengo cambios!

So i have been in my first area for about 7 months and now i have changes... when i found out it was really sad for both my comp and I but now i'm fine. one of my favorite songs is ill go where you want me to go... and i have taken that to heart.. i will go where you want me to go and say what you want me to say... ill be what you want me to be.. i've noticed that on the mission i have been changing as i am literally becoming the person that H.F wants me to be... of course Im not perfect but im doing my best to improve more and more every day.. and when i fall i've found that its easier to get back up when we lean on our savior.. we are not perfect. but I am grateful for a patient H.F that loves us even though we are not perfect. But anyway I unfortunately don´t have time to write much. but know that I love you all and that our Father in Heaven does as well! thanks for all your support..!

Feliz Navidad en Noviembre!

Okay so its basically Christmas here decorations and everything on saturday they had a huge festival and they have a giant tree in the area by Wal-mart and the turned on the lights and there was a never ending stream of fireworks in the sky.. this lasted quite a while I'm quite a pro at sleeping with fireworks loudly going off.. hehhe but its awesome and its really pretty.

But nothing other than that really happened this week.. same oh same oh.. I am really nervous though because this is the week of changes and I have a lot of time here and i would love to have only one more with my comp that i have now.. we get along really great and spending christmas with the people here that are like my family would be amazing.. but in the same time i will be happy to do the will of the Lord. So if i have changes I know its for a reason! And I will be happy to go where I am needed! but that is basically my week still working hard and doing my best...

Ill take the rest of the time to send photos sorry I haven't sent any in a while.. but love you all and hope your all doing well.. your in my prayers!

Photos (11/03/2014)

Only had time to send one sorry short on time i'll send more next week!

Happy late Halloween!

This week was kind of fun not only was it Halloween which my comp and i after we finished working for the day got dressed in our ¨costumes¨ we took pics with those.. it was a lot of fun and i made cake in the shape of halloween things as well... hopefully i have time to send photos but not only was it a good week of Halloween. It was also a good week to strengthen my faith.
Lately i've been working on my faith and i have found that I have been able to  have a lot of experiences this week were my faith has grown a lot.. I've learned that even when I have the Faith needed to have things happen that I also have to remember that H.F has his will as well so I need to put my faith with his will. We have been having a hard time finding news and we don´t have a lot of investigators that are progressing so we decided to go door contacting... and we went to a area that has been in my mind for a while and before we contacted the door. I turned to my comp and said this persons going to let us in... so we contacted the door and the person got talking to us and we gave them a book of Mormon and they want us to go back and talk to him and they want to read the whole book and not just parts that we gave them.. there supper PILAS! But i feel like attitude in alot of things is what  makes miracles.. but i found this week that through our faith we can see miracles..
but my comp and i are going to try even harder this week to find people prepared and i know that if we work hard in faith we will be able to find the people that H.F has prepared for us.. so that was basically my week, working hard and trying to find news.. but love ya all! thanks for your emails!

Love
