BUENAS!!!

Pues,

This week was good! We had some pretty good dats and our fecha went to church this sunday which is a awesome! We are super excited about this! this week rained ALOT! and I have some pics if i have time of how deep it got. I thought in the past they had alot of rain but it was up past the knees in some areas.. it was crazzzyyy and we had green lightning in the dark clouds it was soooo weird.. I have no idea how it was green but it was and it was really cool! Also at district meeting we I got to recite the purpose of missionary and then recite d and c 4 that about three weeks ago i finished memorizing it along with the first vision... So that was a cool! Also the soccer game for the world cup has been going on here and so everyone is watching it and last week on Monday we went to Del Taco and they had great deals on the food for soccer watching dishes... and such but it was funny because everyone in the restaurant would sand up and start yelling and screaming with each goal.. the elders included. I'm actually rather interested in it as well but try not to give into temptation when we pass by screens playing it... but yep this week has been rather well. we got new investigators and had alot more lesson with members than we had last week. hmmmm.... For the fourth of July my comp and I are planning somehting huge and totally going all out iwht food and deserts. I´ve never wanted to serve this holiday so badly in my life.. its not that I don´t like Guatemala I LOVE IT HERE. but i admit I miss the states so celebrating it is the best we can do! wahhoho but its going to be fun Ill be sure to have pics! I have also been rather lazy with my hair and always wear it in braids and french braids but here its something for some reason that they have never seen before so im teaching some of the members how to do braids wich is somethjing that im not really used to but its fun and we can teach there freinds they bring.. Today is memorial day for everyone in Guatemala so everyones off work and at the stake center so we wern´t able to play games or anything we were planing on having a flour fight and throw flour at each other but were going to save that battle for next week! But yep this was my week! Our invesitagor with a fecha told us he was queastioning weither the churhc was true or not and so we got down on our knees and had him pray and ask with us there.. the spirit was soooooo strong.. and our invesitgator felt it.. it was a great expereince! But I love you all and hope all is well thanks for your emails and your letters! Im keeping you all im my prayers! remember to always do what is right even if its the hard thing to do!
Love ya all!

YOSO you only serve once!

Pues,

This week has been good we decided that we are going to go to each of our investigators with the intention on seeing if they are going to progress or not so that we can focus on the ones that are and then drop the ones that are not and go and contact in new areas to find new people.. so we´ve been working on that.. ummmmm hmmm... oh the past three days i've talked only in Spanish and today I convinced my comp to buy me ice cream!! wahahaha because I did so well. We went to a members house the other day and her son served in Provo and so he always talks in English and his cousin from Jersey was visiting and then we had a member who knows English who was helping us with lessons with us so we had a house basically full of English speakers and it was SOO weird to listen to so many conversations in English.. Like really weird and since I was in a solo Spanish mode I was only replying back to them in Spanish.. it was rather interesting.. we also got a little bit of american candy from them which we have been cherishing because they don´t have it here..

We had Zone meeting and said good bye to our mission president and his wife who is leaving next week. I made them a card and they gave us a temple bag with the Guatemalan temple on it which is really cool. It was really sad but they were like oh don´t worry will make sure you won´t forget us and will email you after your missions constantly.. they are really sweet! We also received our Go packs which his our emergency packs for in case we have a earth quake or something happens and we need food and stuff.. which is really helpful! But yep its rained alot like normally...
oh and a missionary came home five months early because he was sick and my companion and I are kind of laughing because hes still in missionary mood so hes like if you need anything let me know because I know how hard it is and such... and so him and his mom gave us food and a ride.. its was nice haha but anyway... got to go!!! that's basically all that happened this week oh my companion gave a talk they didn´t tell her until like eleven on Saturday and so she got like three hours of sleep and apparently they have a red light that blinks on the podium to tell you to stop talking.. and she kept talking so after they were all like did you see the red light.. but yep the bishop said I was next.. so this will be interesting... my Spanish has improved a ton to!!! So this weeks been a pretty good week! lots of sun except for today and yesterday,,, but anyway got to go! Love you all

The kids had to sit in the trunk on a way to an activity hahahaha it was funny but they were having a blast in the trunk! these are the children of Corina.. that I tell you guys about the women with six kids..

Cambiar de milagros! (Change Miracles!)

This week was a lot better we got a new fecha! hes super Pelis! he has a problem with cafe and with smoking but we had a member come with us and we think that he might like her we didn´t know this but after we could tell and so far hes been stopping.. which my companion and I kind of chuckle at... but whatever helps him to quit... haha but hes doing good and hes gone four days without smoking or drinking cafe.. he took our advice and every time he wants to drink cafe or smoke he reads from the book of Mormon.. He really wants to get baptized... also there’s this drink that the members made here in Guatemala that they sell in the stores now in packages.. Called morcaf and it is sooooo Gross hahaha its basically cafe without all the stuff we can´t have.. tis made from cereal and its nasty but were having our investigator use it and he’s satisfied... so whatever works! We also found another investigator she was a contact and she’s majorly pelus she didn´t come to church because she wasn´t ready but when she was ready she stopped by during church and told us that she defiantly will come next week... we also got another lady that believes the church’s true but she kind of didn´t do anything about it and is catholic so were working with her... it’s been a change of miracles or cambiar de milagros!

There was also one day we had where every contact we had wanted to go to church and asked where we it was... my comp and I didn´t even want to go and teach because we were having such great luck but we did anyway.. it also rained ALOT!!! Again.. my backpack and my shoes are gross from the amount of water that’s been through them haha but its p day so I can air them out!

Also we had a earthquake here around 6 am on Tuesday morning... I was half asleep when it happened and I didn´t realize what it was until a member and I were talking... I remember faintly waking up thinking my comp was like jumping on my bed or something like shaking my bed but since I was like half asleep at the time I looked to see if she was and she wasn´t I just went back to sleep. but it shook our beds... I wish I had been more awake to enjoy the moment though.. hehehe lately it’s been really dark from all the black clouds over us and it’s weird when it rains it has like a wave of rain where its strong then soft then strong and soft... its really weird... and it started hailing again!! its been fun and at the same time rather cold...

There’s this lady that’s in my ward and she comes over to our house around 9 and we help her with her BYU I online class with her English.. and each time she comes over i realize how weird English really is.. For example why do we sit IN a chair but ON a couch? Why don’t we sit on a chair and On a couch or in a chair and in a couch... I know it makes sense the way it is but I’m not really sure why it makes sense... also why do we live In the City but ON the farm...

sorry I’m kind of scattered today... but for p day so far some of us played baseball.. I did... while the others played soccer.. It was a lot of fun and it was raining and I forgot my change of clothes but i played in my dress and it was ALOT of fun.. it was me and another Hna. and then our district leader Elder. Dimaren vs. my comp and another sister and Elder... my team won and it was allot of fun we got wet! It was allot of fun after writing were going to pizza hut again.. oh speaking of which my comp and I ordered it the other night and it was really funny because they knew or address already because the Elders that lived in our house before constantly ordered there.. we thought that was funny.. Another funny thing was we called our District later to see if we needed to tip the guy that brought us the food... he was like what... but it ends up that you’re not supposed to tip here.. So we didn´t... it was funny though...

Well that was pretty much my week... and also i have another challenge.. and in case you all forgot my other ones.. they are to send me two copys of your favorite talk from conference one written on about why you like the talk and the other copy I will write on and send you back... and the other is to buy a preach my gospel if you don´t have one and read it day by day and do some activities every so often.. my challenge for today is to go to peach my gospel and do the attributes test on page 126 as missionary I have to do it once a month to evaluate myself and see what I need to work on.. So do the test and then work on the one that you’re weak on! And also my area has DVDs that we use to show to our investigators and such... and one of the videos I really like showing is Gracias A El. thanks to him... and I believe this specific video is made by the church. I challenge you to look it up at I think thankstohim.org.. or something I know it in Spanish not English sorry... thankstohim/mormon.org.. i think but anyway it should be on the LDS website its really good!! I love it and its short but it has such a strong message and really brings the spirit!

Well love you all!

Love ur fav missionary in Guatemala.

BUENAS!

BUENAS!

First off for all of you dying to know if Dora is in Spanish and teaches English here... I am pleased to tell you that yes Dora is in Spanish and teaches English here hahahaha Which i figured but checked with a member.. hahaha ANYWAY.

This week was allot better! The family I was telling you about with the six kids ended up just staying where they are and things aren't better but there not worse.. So they seem okay for now.
The Elders had another Baptism on Saturday so we got to go to go with our investigators.. the mom and her six kids went with us to watch!

And the two little kids who have baptism dates were really excited. The Elders also gave a blessing of the sick to her two month old baby and the kids all think that the Elders are soo cool.. but it was great, the priesthood really is an amazing thing.. and the baby is better!

But the kids really enjoyed the baptism and the mom did as well so it was good to go and take them to that.. but a rewinding a little when we went to go pick up the family for the baptism it was sunny so my comp and i left our stuff in the members car and went to the door. but by the time the family was ready it was POURING rain hahaha so my comp and the five little kids ran out and we shoved them all into this tiny car. I hurried and grabbed my umbrella and then went back for the mom and her two month sick baby. So I gave her an umbrella to keep her and the baby dry and by this time the water was up to our calves... and i got the closest thing to snow! It started HAILING! hahaha it was sooo funny because we totally weren't ready for this weather.. so My companion and I were using our bodies to block the hail from hitting the mom and the baby and my comp and I were just sopping wet getting pelted with large pieces of Hail laughing because it was so insane it was perfectly fine until the family decided that they wanted to go to the baptism and we picked them up... So anyway. So we got the mom in and then we both managed to squeeze in the front. We fit Eleven people in a five seat car.. I find that skill! hehee but on the way to the baptism it was insane the roads were like rivers so we had to drive slow. But we all made it on time and we were all safe! it was insane though but it was awesome! I love water! It was however extremely cold and i happened to be wearing a white shirt.. yep not a good mix.. so after our mission leader drove us home and let us change.. It was quite a fun adventure!

And I’m going to buy a rain coat today! So that was my little adventure this week!

Speaking of snow my companion got another package this week and it has FAKE SNOW IN IT! It made me soo happy she was all happy that she got clothes and stuff and I was happy that we got snow so it was a win win situation.. but this fake snow thing is really cool you add water and it puffs up like snow and they use it in indoor snow parks because its not wet or cold but it’s just like snow! and I’m in love with it! So hopefully i get to use it soon!

Hmmmmm, that was pretty much my week.. crazzzzyyy and busy.. but well worth it.. Anyway, love u all!

oh. And another challenge. Focus on Joseph smith watch the restoration video this week and then read Joseph Smith History.. Even though people think we worship him which we don´t it’s important that we remember and respect him for all that he did for the church and the sacrifices he made!

Until next week!

Be strong and of good courage. Joshua 1:9

Okay so I think part of my email from last time sent part of it and since I’m not sure how much it sent I’m just going to start with my stuff this week and then if I remember stuff I want to tell you from the other week I’ll write it after...

Anyway so this week had a lot of downs.. More than my companion and I wanted..

when I first came to the area i told you that we got a fecha with a woman named Jacklynn and this past week we got two new fechas con Nicole 8 and Her son 9 the mom Corina can´t be baptized until her husband divorces his other wife but she believes the gospel and she has six children.. Nicole and Her son are the oldest... and so we have three baptisms..
however.. these last two week my companion and I have been fighting Satan I know that sounds weird fighting Satan but I’m not going to go into much detail but we have to probably have to drop Jacklyn as a Fecha and then Corinas family with the two kids have to move to get away from their father... who is... ya it’s not good.. So were helping them the best we can.. and it’s just been a rough week Satan has been hounding down on our investigators with problems that I don´t think anyone should ever have to go through... but my companion and I aren’t giving up. We have the Savior on our side and even though it’s been extremely hard to go through.. and even though there are people i care about that are getting hurt.. i know that the savior will help us and make everything okay. The husband of Corina is doing really bad things to the mom and kids and I think sometimes i feel the sadness that H.F has when his children do something bad. He loves everyone so much! Words can´t describe how much our Father in Heaven loves us and yet there are people that choose to disobey him or hurt others and I know H.F is extremely sad because of this... I’ve learned to have patience this week and to endure. The most important thing in life is to remember through trials and hardships that the Lord IS AND ALWAYS will BE THERE FOR US. He loves us soooo much and I’ve noticed this from his gospel and all the comfort and help my companion and i have experiences this week.

I got a blessing of the sick blessing last Wednesday and then after a priesthood blessing from my Zone leader. I felt like as soon as I received the blessing that a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders and I knew that H.F knew exactly what I was feeling and going through... The priesthood is an AMAZING thing and we shouldn´t be afraid to use it! When we need help or guidance pray or ask for a Blessing. All my worries were mentioned in the blessing and I felt strengthened by it.. This week really has been one of the hardest most emotional filled weak of my life but it has also been one of the most amazing spiritual experiences of my life. I’m so grateful for our father in heaven and all that he does for us.. I’m grateful for this evangelio and for my investigators especially Corina and her family and how they have been faithfully praying and relying on the lord in there time of hardship. I love all my investigators so much and really want to help them to the best of my ability.. But we get to go and visit Corina today and see how she’s doing..! She’s still at her house with her husband until she can get money to move to a different area where she has family. But we have members that are being amazing and helping her out and buying her food and such... The world even though it might seem like it has allot of bad. Remember that it has more good! As long as us in the church are strong and reach out to others and stay close and lean on each other along with our Father in Heaven for support there is nothing Satan can do!

On a HAPPIER NOTE I’m a missionary so I only focus on the positive!!!!! hehehe so Side note, I kind of felt bad for my Zone leader because I could tell in the blessing that he hadn´t said a prayer in English for a while... So i felt kind of bad. But I’m the same way.. I can email in English and I can pray in my head in English but when I say a prayer out loud I can only do it in Spanish.. It was funny because every Saturday we have an English Class. And the English class we bring investigators and help them learn English and Elder Ceballos from Chile teaches it.. he’s still learning English but he knows enough to teach the lesson... but anyway so he wanted me to help my investigator say a prayer in English so i got up and this was all I remembered... Dear kind Heavenly Father... Gracias.. I mean thank you for the opportunity to be here and learn English.. Grasias por.. I mean thank you for this beautiful day... ahhhh en el nombre de.. in the name of Jesus Christ Amen. I was like yep I forgot how to pray in english... it was funny...

Also its been raining ALOT here and I love and miss water so I’ve been enjoying myself.. Everyone else things I’m weird haha but i love the water. i still need to by a rain coat and shoes but for now it’s fun getting sopping wet. yep probably not the healthiest but its defiantly the most fun heheeh! Also there are sooo many firefly’s here its soooo pretty at night! Also with the rain... my companion and i were on this part of an island it’s just a park that has grass and then the roads surround it and one time it rained so hard we were trapped on the little island because the roads were literally like rivers.... it was awesome but we were late to a investigator but they understood. my Spanish is coming along.. I’m understanding a lot! more and doing my best and in the blessing Elder Dille gave me my zone leader... he said i would learn it fast.. yep. my bed bugs are gone!!!! wahoooooooo but buddy the lizard is gone to he hasn´t showed in a while. yep... last p day we played tug of war and it was a lot of fun! we also did this activity where we all laid down on our stomachs and linked arms and then a person would grab someone by the legs and try to pull that person out of the link but it was hard because we all had our arms linked... it was a little weird because they had us go hermana, elder, hermana elder... but were all brothers and sisters nothing more so it wasn´t really that weird... but it was definitely ALOT OF FUN! heheheeh my zone is rather awesome there really funny to! but yep... I have to go unfortunately but I love u all and hope ur all well! Remember that your all beautiful and handsome daughters and sons of god! Until next week. !

Te Quiero Mucho!!!

Love,

Hna. Flewallen!!!
