Photos (08/25/2014)

The first pic is me with our investigator who has a fechas for the 6 of Sept.. her names Jely.

The second pic.. its a pic I put in Elder. Cubillos baggie.. and for those who don't know what a baggie is.. its just a note book you decorate and then give to missionary's to sign and give there info in for after the mission.. Baggie is basically like you want to go home.. kind of thing... Im not really sure how to explain it but anyway so apparently he wanted to gangster out the photo so

yep this is the product of him turning it into a gangster pic...

This is what a part of Guatemala looks like!

Weekly Email

Okay so this week dat wise wasn´t the best which just means I have another week to try harder!

Lets see this week was kind of Crazy we got to go go Zone One and meet our new area of the 70 Elder Alanzo.. I learned alot and I love the conference.. It was also our first first conference with our new Pres. of mission Pres Crapo and Im excited that I understood basically everything they said! So i have lots of notes and the conference in general just got me more pumped to do my best and keep serving!

We had divisions on friday with the Hna. Leaders.. oh and I forgot to tell you I don´t remember if you guys remember me talking about Hermana. Fitzjerald.. shes the Hermana that right when we got out of the CCM. we went and stayed with her and her comp until we found out who our comps and areas were the next day.. but anyway so shes in my zone now for about a change.. and shes the Hna. leader here.. and so anyway she was with me and we did divisions me with her in my area and my comp left the area to the Hna. Leaders area... and so I got to basically be full out comp mayor for a day and it went rather well. I realized how much my Spanish has improved since I had to be the one to start the conversations... and such.. but it was a great day we got three news and almost a new fecha.. next cita will put it so im excited... so divisions went really well!

And on Saturday and Sunday we had stake comference which went really well.

My comp and I are really excited because one of our inactives that hasn´t been in chruch for about two years.. HE CAME TO CHURCH... so we are exstremely happy about this.. Xiomara.. who was one of our fechas.. were still working with her but shes been ignorning us for the past two weeks.. she came to church. so we were both happy about that!

Hmm.... I was reading my personal study today well part of my personal study in 1 sammuel 17. about David and Goliath.. In life we all have a Goliath something that we need to defeat. just make sure to have the faith of David and trust in H.F and we can do and accomplish anything! Faith makes things possible!

That was basically my week! All is good. love ya all!

This is the shower thing after the fire went out. haha I had soap in my hair sitll so i had to finish in the sink...

My comp and a member and our investigator Jore at the activity muscal...!!!!!

This Week!

HMM so this week!
First off I wanted to tell you a story a member to me. She said that she had been praying that her son who has two years can feel better because hes been sick.. And so she she said that she prayed but didn´t really get a answer but one day her son had a Liahona and he opened it up exactly up to the page of Priesthood blessings for the sick.. She then realized that her prayer had been answered..!
I thought this little story was kind of cool! She prayed and even though she didn´t get an answer the way she thought she would she still got an answer... Sometimes we forget that there are more than one way to receive an answer.. through scriptures, the holy ghost, conference, and the lihonas and sometimes through other people! All these things have advice to help answer and guide us to our Father in Heaven. So that was a cool little experience..
Friday was interesting... The electric system that runs the shower head caught on fire while I was showering and that was probably one of the scaryist moments of my life... haha but i wasn´t harmed.. only my ashmas been iritated alot from the ashes and smoke I inhaled from the fire that burned the plastic but I received a Presistood blessing and im basically back to normal! But I learned multiple things from this event, one that H.F protects his missionary's, two that the Priesthood is probably the most wonderful gift we have from our Father in Heaven! I am truley greatful for the Preistood! But so that was a fun expereince... my Zone leader always cheers me up by saying, ¨Hna. Flewallen, vi una culumna de la luz mas briallnte que el sol..'' which is I saw a pillar of light that was brighter than the sun.. Jospeh Smiths first vision...hahah but it was indeed a bright light... but anyway so that happened..
on Sunday my mission had a actividad in zone for the people in the City part for all the recent converts, and investigators.. it was a music performance and so my comp and i went with some investigators... it wasn´t what i expected but it was still good!!! Alot of the songs were really pretty! And others... were ah ya.... interesting haha but it was good! haha
This wednessday is the zone comference that the Hnas. in my zone are going to go and sing at we get to practice it more today so im excited for that! Hmmmmmm my investiagor taht I told you guys about his names Carolos the person who couldn´t destroy the book of Mormon.... he has tons of deep doctrine questions... hes been reading DYC hes bought a Preach my gospel along with the teachers manuals for Sunday school. Hes also bought a bunch of DVDs... to be honest Im not surprised if he bought the whole distribution center hahah but he is reading them all and hes super smart so he has a whole bunch of really deep doctrine questions... Like about marriages and sealings which is something we don´t really bring up this early..So we've been teaching him the basic doctrine even though he basically knows it all and were now going into the doctrine to answer his questions... the elders had a baptism Saturday night and Carolos our investigator came to that and then after that he stayed after and talked to the bishop and the next day the Bishop came up to us and said he talked for four hours straight with him... but yep my comp and i are excited about his baptism! Our other fechas are doing okay as well were still doing our best to teach them and helping them get testimony's! but yep this was bascially my week! All is well I hope your all doing well to!
Love ya all!

Our service project! Eld. Wright, tito, me, Hna. Wilcoxen and Eld. Cubillos.

Temple me and my zone and then a pic with my comp and I with Elder Gamez our Zone leader

Been a whole 4 days I know hehe

Well I have a bunch of cool stuff to tell you guys! We got a new second counselor of the Area Presidency and so we are going to have a huge conference on the 20 of this month and have all the Zones in The City area go to it and the cool part is the sisters in my Zone we have been nominated to sing in front of everyone! Which is sooo cool and im so excited because i get to sing a duet and we get to meet our area presidency! So that's going to be pretty awesome Im going to see if I cna record it and send it to you!
Second my comp and i have a investigator and he is a really sweet not really old but and old man he has a great heart he just has allot of doubts and my comp and i were wondering if we were even helping him with his doubts or helping him understand what this gospel could do for his life. Because we have been studying and praying for him and his mom because they have been going through a hard time right now.. but in one of our lessons he told us that he made an article (hes a journalist) and he told us that he wrote an article called I can´t remember exactly but i think the title was how to reach someone who has a hard heart.. and he told us that he was grateful to us and told us that we were his inspiration for the article and so he told us he would give us each a copy of it... and it was really nice of him and I found that if we do our best in anything that even if we might not think we are making a difference we are! So taht was that cool experience!
Nothing really much happened since last Wednesday...My comp and i did divisions yesterday with members that went well.. On Saturday my comp and the Elders in my area we went and did a service project we painted a white wall white... haha we didn´t really know why they wanted it white again but none the less the member was grateful! This Sunday four of our five fechas came to church which was awesome! And ne of our Fechas Jely brought her two songs and her husband who we havn´t taught but they came which was awesome!
There was probably more I wanted to talk about but I can´t remember right now.. So this was practically what happened from last Wednesday to today!
Love ya all!

Pictures (08/06/2014)

I took the sharing the gospel to everyone to literally! haha but he took the pamphlet with a smile on his face!

This is the brownie cake thing i made for my comps b day! The second pic is with me and the Zone leaders right now we just got a new Zone leader his name is Elder Sawyer and the other Elder is Elder Gamez

Hola!!!!

So to explain what happened last week the week i told you I would write about... Saturday the 26 was my comps b day so i made her a brownie looking cake in the shape of a plaque and with frosting made her plaque and then i made a circle brownie to represent a button and with frosting put a missionary inside joke on it... We also got permission to go to the members in our ward that arn´t in our area and so we got to go and eat there with them for my comps b day.

And hmmmm, this week so far!!!!!! has been awesome! Monday we got a reference form a member and this reference is amazingly pelas!!!! let me tell you his story... he told us that he worked in a recycling center and he got a things of bibles and was recycling them but then he found a book of Mormon and no matter how hard he tried he could not bring himself to destroy the book of Mormon and so he took it home and he read it a little and he worked in Utah at the time and so he heard allot of good things about the Mormons... and so when he moved back to Guatemala he researched the Church and found out that he moved right next to members of the church and so he asked them how he can get involved in our church and said that he feels something different with our Church and he flat out told us that he is a hard catholic but he said that there are no coincidences and so we talked to him and we put a fecha with him and he called us that night and told us that he for sure wanted to be baptized.. this was all before we taught him anything... he has a problem with word of wisdom but hes basically willing to do anything to join the Church this is golden than golden investigator... oh not to mention he told us that he will change his schedule so that he can meet us when we can... and my comp and i are like in awe hahaa were like can you talk to some of our other investigators.... he also told us that he was going to make ti me in his schedule to after our cita with him on Thursday hes going to buy us and his friend food.... hes been reading the book of Mormon and the members that live next to him gave him the conference Liahona from last year and he read it and he said that when he read President Monsons talk he was in tears... and so we have a for sure fecha with him and we put another one with a woman named Jely who is also really awesome.. she started crying the last two lessons with us and she was like i don´t know whats wrong with me im probably the most hard hearted person and i never cry so we again explained the spirit to her and... i can go on and on about both of them because there story's that they share with me are amazing... and i can really see the difference in the investigators that actually read the book of Mormon and the ones that don´t... i love visiting them because im able to see for my self the blessings and the conversion that the book of Mormon has on people. its an extremely neat blessing and experience to watch them grow and also to watch as i grow through there experiences... its been a great week.. and my Zone leader who always tells my comp exactly what we need to here told us last week when we had a bad week right after a good week. He told us that sometimes we have a good week and then a bad week to trail our faith and if we endure through it we will see the blessing... and Im starting to see the blessings of it all. so as it stands we have five fechas which means FIVE SOULS sons and daughters of God. im so excited to see them change and see how happy they can be in the Gospel!

So today GOT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE!!!!!!! its every other change... if were in the City areas we get to go to the temple every other change... so that's why im writing to you on a Wednesday and not a Monday and sorry they told us Friday that we were going to the temple so I wasn´t able to warn you but it all worked out! And the Temple was a great expereince! I really wish we could go there more often sometimes it feels nice to get a break from the world and to enter the house of the Lord to just get a break from everything! It really was a great experience.. after that we went to Wendys... and then went to the Church to write but the internet was down so we had to get money at Walmart and find a internet place... so yep!

hmmmm

I was talking with my comp and in the book of Mormon it says that Nephi, Moroni and Jacob will be at our judgement day... so I want you to ask yourselves what you would tell them on judgement day about your use of the Book Of Mormon... Always remember to read the BOM if only five minutes a day.. I know you will see a difference in your life if you do!

Oh we had a power outage really late one night so my comp and a member started to book a near by members house because we were in a area that we only walk in the light... so anyway all we saw was a flash of light that i thought lighting had struck next to us then everything was out it was SOOO COOOL! Also it rained really hard yesterday and my comp and i only had five minutes to eat McDonald's because our next Cita was with a investigator that is always three en punto! its scary... haha

so I want you all to picture this... haha im running getting drenched in water eating a Sunday from McDonald's that is getting wet and soggy from all the water getting in it so its basically dripping down my hand as im getting drenched and running with my backpack and my agenda and my ldm... now that i think about it, it was funnier in the moment... but anyway... hahahah it was soooo coold! But i got to use my Jacket! (thanks mom and dad for sending it!) and so i was warm!

I lost my plack about two week but thankfully and luckily the Elders in my area found it for me! Which made me majorly happy because i was really upset about loosing it so that's good... also heads up im starting to go back and forth form what happened this week the this past week and the week before that...

we also had emergency cambios with two Elders so I knew an elder that was in my barrio for about a week and then a new one switched in... and my new district leader is reallllyyy funny hahaha sometimes i wish you could all be here to meet my Zone and District I have some really funny and at the same time extremely Spiritual people here... I will have many story's o tell you about my Zone and District when i get home hahaha but yep im doing well and working hard.. my Spanish is improving! Im able to understand allot more and im learning allot here and growing alot..!

So now your all caught up! This is basically my last couple of weeks! Love ya all thanks for your letters, emails and packages!

Greetings from Guatemala! c/o Jackie Jackson

Hey! We have been visiting the beautiful country of Guatemala and we ran in to your daughter in the ward where my son used to serve. I took some pictures for you – she looks great – happy – and sends her love! Her spirit is strong – you should be very proud of her! The people here love the missionaries – she is well cared for!

Sincerely,

Danny & Jackie Jackson
